Abstract:
In recent decades, abnormal warming and dramatic sea ice loss have been two essential features of the Arctic’s rapid changes. Polar marine ecosystems are sensitive and fragile, and their responses and adaptation to environmental variability are hot topics in global change research. From the Arctic system science point of view, this talk will present critical physical variations occurring in the Arctic Ocean and their impacts on the coupled sympagic-pelagic-benthic ecosystem and further discuss the processes and underlying mechanisms of these ecological changes.
